PARIS, Oct 2, 2007 (AFP) - Anti-fur protesters bared all in central Paris Tuesday, October 2nd to draw attention to the use of animal skins by designers in this week's fashion shows.

Four demonstrators from the group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) appeared naked in the Place du Palais Royal, with their bodies painted to represent animals.

"We have chosen Paris fashion week in order to highlight the issue to the public. We want to remind people that animals continue to suffer ... as they await their cruel and inevitable fate," said Noemie Ventura of PETA France.

"Designers like Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren refuse to use furs. It is high time that others follow their lead and bring this violent industry to an end," she said.
