Calabia, who also join the group’s managing committee, joins the company from Desigual, where he was responsible for product and merchandising. He has over 20 years of experience in the retail sector.

Calabia will focus on further consolidating Springfield’s position in the affordable young fashion segment and drive the brand’s international expansion plan. The chain operates in almost 70 countries.

His appointment follows the recruitment of Marie Castellvi-Dépée for Cortefiel and Pedro del Hierro, Raúl Ramírez for Fifty Factory and Eva Romeo at Women'secret, completing a full leadership overhaul across the Spanish group.

In addition to Desigual, Calabia has previously worked at The Body Shop, where he was general manager, and at Levi Straus, where he served as vice president of sales and operations for all southern Europe.

The new CEO has a degree in advertising and PR from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and a postgraduate certificate in market from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

In the first nine months of the financial year, the group posted revenues of 810 million euros, representing an 4% increase compared with the same period the prior year.
