The Global Denim Awards competition was held on 26th October, on the first day of the Kingpins trade show's Amsterdam session, dedicated to the denim industry's supply chain. The winners of the award's third edition were Curaçao-born designer Anbasja Blanken and Italian manufacturer ITV Denim.

Each year, the competition matches up a designer with a denim manufacturer: they must work together to create a capsule collection showcasing their respective skills. Eleven pairs entered the competition for this edition.

Anbasja Blanken, formerly an assistant at the Viktor & Rolf design studio, is now in charge of her own trousers brand, called Ala Blanka, which showed last July at the Amsterdam Fashion Week. Together with ITV Denim, Blanken really made a difference at this year's Global Denim Awards, presenting five highly feminine, contemporary and sophisticated looks, and earning the pair the €10,000 prize.

For ITV Denim, technology lies at the heart of the creative process. The manufacturer already won the award once, in the first edition, alongside designer Jonathan Christopher. The Italian company and the designer are still working together, and are busy creating new fabrics.
