On 7 September the then parent company of McGregor, Gaastra and Adam, Doniger Fashion Group, filled for bankruptcy. In the days leading to the bankruptcy the company filed for court administration, but failed to meet its obligations, which resulted in the second bankruptcy. In 2016 McGregor, Gaastra and Adam dealt with its first bankruptcy. The failure was due to a reported loss of 26 million euros in 2015. In that year the company changed its name from McGregor Fashion Group to Doniger Fashion Group.

It is not yet confirmed how the restart will affect employment and number of stores at the fashion chains. According to media reports this will have to be clarified in the near future.

At the time of its bankruptcy, Doniger Fashion Group had 75 standalone stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany, and 53 located in the Netherlands.

McGregor launched in 1993, and had, at its peak, 150 standalone stores in addition to 3,200 points of sale.
