Catalan distributor Pepperline will take over the management of US sportswear company O'Neill in the Iberian peninsula in December this year. Until now, the brand was managed by the Proged Group.

O'Neill's new manager for the Iberian Peninsula, Xevi Sacrest, explained to FashionNetwork.com that the change arose as a result of Pepperline's knowledge of the US firm's interest in finding a new distributor.

The Catalan company will manage the relationships and distribution of O'Neill's collections to independent multi-brand stores in Spain, Andorra and Portugal. O'Neill has more than 200 points of sale in the Iberian Peninsula, says Sacrest.

O'Neill sales outlets in shopping centers such as El Corte Inglés are directly managed by the firm. Regarding the opening of specialty stores, Sacrest said that it may be possible: "in the future, although it is not the initial plan, but it does interest us - like any brand that wants to develop."

Proged Group has been the company in charge of managing the distribution of O'Neill in the Iberian Peninsula from 2012 until December of this year, when the contract will end.

Catalan company Pepperline, founded in 1994, has two showrooms in Barcelona and Madrid and has its offices in Barcelona. It has a network of 35 branches spread throughout the Iberian Peninsula and distributes its brands in more than 1,500 points of sale. It currently works with firms such as Minimum, Brixtol, Champion, Rains, Nudie Jeans and Original Penguin, amongst others.

American brand O'Neill was founded by Jack O'Neill in 1952, specialising in surfwear. In 2007, the firm became part of the Dutch group Logo International.
