YKK expands resource offer at 'inspirational' London showroom

YKK, the world’s largest zipper manufacturer, has launched a new range of products and an exclusive service at its showroom in London’s Shoreditch, where designers can get technical advice, see how attaching machines work and interact with the brand’s collection.

Students can now place small orders without having to meet a minimum order threshold at the London showroom - YKK

Opened in 2015, the flagship showroom located in Commercial Street now stocks a selection of YKK’s Snap Fastener and Button collection, including press snap fasteners, sewing buttons, eyelets, waist closure fasteners and jeans button and rivet.

This is the first time the range, used across the industry to support fabrics and garments, is available in the showroom. And to encourage fashion students and emerging designers to incorporate YKK’s items into their designs, the company is allowing visitors to buy small quantities of samples, instead of the typical minimum quantity orders.

Customers can also choose from different sizes and finishes to add a personal touch to their creations and ensure the rivets, eyelets and snap fasteners are aligned with the creative vision.

The showroom also hosts workshops for students - YKK

In addition to stocking the Snap Fastener and Button collection, the showroom has launched an advice service showing designers how the pieces can be fitted on individual samples using the showroom’s attaching machine.

The launch of the service is part of YKK’s vision of creating a hub providing unique resource for designers, students and customers. The showroom showcases every six weeks the work of a fashion student through a window display and regularly hosts workshops for students and teachers from fashion schools around the country.

Founded in 1934 in Japan, YKK develops and produces a range of fastening solutions for clothing, leather goods, technical garments, furnishings and trims.
