‘Tales of Africa’ is a collaborative fashion project dedicated to the world of African culture and craftsmanship, from tie-dye prints to geometric textures and rare embroidery. A collaboration that blends local African know-how with the aesthetics of the 8 by Yoox label, embodied in the capsule collections created by six African designers.

“Tales of Africa is an important project for 8 by Yoox, which increasingly aspires to be an inclusive platform giving voice to talents from all over the world. We are delighted to be able to integrate these items into our collection, and to bring them together in an authentic fashion to express a global, contemporary style,” said Giovanni Fedel, head of 8 by Yoox, the private label by Italian fashion e-tailer Yoox.

The six collections include ready-to-wear items, handbags, accessories and footwear, all of them featuring design elements typical of African culture. Tradition and innovation combine in the six collections’ unique, sustainable products: from the Faso dan fani technique adopted by Imane Ayissi, to the Togolese Kente fabrics used by Estelle Yomeda, to the South African decorations featured in the shoes by Galago. In the same vein, the iFele collection by Reggi Xaba, the accessories by Inzuki, a brand designed by Teta Isibo, and Inside Blue, a sustainable line by Nkwo Onwuka.

‘Tales of Africa’ is consistent with the Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP) group's commitment to sustainable fashion, in the wake of the ‘People Positive’ campaign and the ‘Build an Inclusive World’ pledge. YNAP has indicated it is keen to continue to use its platforms and global influence to make its voice heard and support organisations, companies and people who strive to be inclusive. YNAP will adopt the ‘Planet Positive’ approach to work with suppliers and brand partners to improve social responsibility and environmental regulations. The Tales of Africa x 8 by Yoox capsule collection will be available from the beginning of May exclusively on Yoox.

With its sustainable luxury positioning, YNAP is keen to help transform the fashion industry as a whole into a more circular, sustainable and inclusive system. The group’s strategy incorporates 12 commitments, closely linked to the UN’s sustainable development goals.
