Anne Pitcher is reportedly exiting her current role as Managing Director of Selfridges Group at the end of the year and will become Deputy Chairman of Canadian department store operation Holt Renfrew.

Holt Renfrew was retained by the Weston family when it sold the Selfridges Group’s European operations to a consortium comprising Central Group and Signa Holding earlier this year.

But in an unusual move, Pitcher, who will also sit on the Canadian retailer’s advisory board, is believed to be staying in London. Pitcher had already said back in the summer that she would leave Selfridges at year end.

She leaves with a record of helping to turn Selfridges into one of the most desirable luxury department store businesses globally, as well as one of the most sustainability-focused operations.

Holt Renfrew has also embraced a similar sustainability-driven strategy.

The retailer operates has seven stores across Canada, with four of them being in the Greater Toronto Area, with the rest in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
