ASOS has seriously strengthened its board with the appointment of Marie Gulin-Merle as a non-executive director. And unlike many non-execs, she has deep and directly relevant experience in core areas for ASOS.

Gulin-Merle has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing and digital transformation, working across three major disciplines: technology, beauty and fashion.

She’s Google's Global VP of Ads Marketing, based in New York, leading all marketing activities for Google's Ads business, she has previously held various executive positions such as CMO of Calvin Klein, Chief Digital Officer of PVH and Group CMO of L'Oréal USA.

She’ll join the board on 1 February and will serve on the Remuneration Committee, among others.

ASOS chairman Jørgen Lindemann said: “Marie joins us with a depth of relevant industry knowledge across international e-commerce, marketing, beauty and brands. The board will greatly benefit from Marie's expertise, and we look forward to working closely with her.”

The company has already been busy beefing up its board. Only last month the online fashion retail giant appointed Wei Gao as another non-exec, also joining on 1 February. She brings over 16 years’ e-commerce and data experience in senior roles at Amazon. This included roles as a VP and as Technical Advisor to the CEO.

The retailer has also appointed Mai Fyfield Chair of its Remuneration Committee, effective 1 January. Most recently she was Chief Commercial & Chief Strategy Officer for Sky Group with a 20-year career at the broadcaster holding a variety of senior roles across strategy, commercial and. She also holds a non-exec position at the BBC.
