Havaianas has appointed a new retail director for the EMEA region. The Brazilian brand, famous for its colourful flip flops, has chosen Scott Ziegler, a University of Jamestown, North Dakota, graduate, who formerly worked at Foot Locker, Adidas and Columbia. Since 2013, Ziegler was at VF Corporation, as Timberland’s vice-president direct-to-consumer in the EMEA region.

Havaianas’s parent company, Alpargatas, made a change at the top on January 1 2019. After leading the group for 15 years, Márcio Luiz Simões Utsch left, replaced by Roberto Funari. The reshuffle followed the July 2017 acquisition of Alpargatas by Cambuhy Investimentos, Brasil Warrant and the Itaúsa holding company, for a sum of BRL3.5 billion (€802 million). In 2018, Alpargatas generated a revenue of BRL3.9 billion (€893 million), up 4.9% compared to the previous financial year.
