Calvin Klein opens new Edinburgh store as St James Quarter proves its appeal

Another major name has opened a new store that underlines the appeal of the new St James Quarter as a key shopping hub in Edinburgh.
Calvin Klein is the latest international label to join the neighbourhood with a 166.7 square meter store that offers a comprehensive range of its women’s and men’s jeans and underwear.
The company said the new location’s signature concrete design concept “communicates the brand’s minimal, modern aesthetic with a flash of colour and sumptuous materials to enhance the customer experience”.
The store exterior features “warm" walls with corresponding floor and ceiling finishes “to deliver a meditative monochromatic background for the product on display”.
At the moment, the store also highlights the Spring 2021 collection and campaign.
St James Quarter is a new retail-led lifestyle district that looks likely to be a key draw for both locals and visitors to Edinburgh once life gets fully back to normal with a mix of art, culture and fashion.
Just a week ago, footwear specialist Dune London also announced an opening in the area and in May, John Lewis revealed its fully revamped store there.
Early last year, Nuveen Real Estate's £1 billion development announced a raft of international names that had signed up to take space. While the intervening year-and-a-half have changed the retail landscape forever, they don’t seem to have dented the appeal of ‘destination’ developments like this too seriously. In fact, post-pandemic, such hubs could prove to be more alluring than regular malls and high streets as consumers continue to seek experiences as well as simply shopping.
