The global women’s fashion event Coterie has partnered with the Australian Fashion Council (AFC), a non-for-profit membership organisation that promotes Australia’s textile and fashion industry.

“Australian brands have been increasing in popularity over the last five years and Coterie has helped to grow their footprint in the North American market,” said Danielle Licata, Women’s Fashion Director and VP of Coterie, in a press release.

“We are excited to come to Australia and discover the next wave of talent for our retailers to invest in.”

The first step towards this goal will be a seminar at the QT Hotel in Sydney, Australia, on October 9.

The seminar will present a detailed overview of how to enter the US market for Australian brands, as well as information about presenting at Coterie’s trade fairs. The seminar will focus on fashion brands but will also be open to beauty and skincare brands who will be invited to exhibit at Beauty @ Coterie.

Coterie has already introduced a number of Australian fashion brands to the U.S. market including One Teaspoon, Camilla, and Alice McCall. The partnership with the AFC will allow more Australian brands to apply to the Australia Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) for a grant to help them export to and develop wholesale distribution in the US market.

“The Australian Fashion Council is proud to be working with Coterie in facilitating a valuable connection between our members and North America,” said David Giles Kaye, CEO of the Australian Fashion Council in a press release.

“Coterie’s trade show expertise will offer Australian fashion brands an exclusive insight into how to access and achieve success within this vital export market.”

The upcoming February 2019 edition of Project Women’s, which will run during Magic in Las Vegas, will also have a special focus on Australian designers in its Oasis section that highlights emerging brands.

Australian brands such as Golden One, The Wolf Gang, and Richer Poorer have previously exhibited at the trade show.
