Italy's Diesel has revealed the appointment of Eraldo Poletto to the role of CEO of the luxury brand's North America region.

Reporting to Massimo Piombini, global CEO of Diesel, Poletto will be responsible for the development of the Diesel brand in North America, an important market with great growth potential for the brand, according to a statement.

Poletto joins Diesel after serving as CEO and brand president of Stuart Weitzman, owned by Tapestry Inc., in 2018, a role he held for two years.

Before that, he was CEO Of Salvatore Ferragamo, which he joined in August 2016 and exited in March 2018.

“On behalf of the entire Diesel team, I want to give a warm welcome to Eraldo Poletto," said  Piombini. "In his new role, Eraldo will have the opportunity to capitalise on his long experience in the industry to drive the growth of our brand in the USA and Canada."

In joining Diesel, Poletto becomes part of the fold of OTB Group, comprised Maison Margiela, Marni, Jil Sander and Viktor & Rolf.

“I am very proud to join the Diesel team, a brand I admire which created an innovative unconventional style before many others. I shall be taking on my new position in the OTB Group with great energy and also with a commitment to contribute to Diesel’s growth on the North American market at a time of great opportunities,” said Poletto.

The last twelve months has seen Diesel shift its brand direction and strategy, announcing the appointment of Glenn Martins as its new creative director in late 2020, followed by the launch of an eco collection and its entry into the resale market in 2021. Most recently, news broke Diesel plans to make its Milan Fashion Week debut in February this year.
