Esprit has reorganised its divisions, or rather it has streamlined them. The retail brand officially announced the consolidation of its footwear and accessories businesses, in order to better manage their compatibility with the fashion collections.

The new division will be led ad interim by Beate Köhler, who has worked thirty years for the label, chiefly in... footwear. She will report to Holger Thiesse, Senior Vice-President in charge of the lifestyle sector. The decision follows the departures last January of Martin Krist, who spent 17 years with Esprit, and of Anke Ottersbach, who was in charge of accessories since 2006.

From an economic point of view, the consolidation can be justified. Accessories and footwear account respectively for only 4.8% and 3.4% of the total business. During the first six months of the fiscal year which began on 1st July, accessories sales have fallen at constant exchange rates by 2.7%, down to HKD445 million (€52 million), and those of footwear remained stable at HKD317 million (€37 million).
