As part of its recovery plan, fashion retailer Esprit has opened its first bodywear store in the city centre of Hilversum, in the Netherlands.

It opened the new location in a partnership deal with Van Keulen Retail, an experienced franchise family business from South Holland.

The new store covers over 140 sq m and offers a wide selection of specialist products including women's lingerie, sports clothing, swimwear and beachwear, plus bath and nightwear collections. Home-to-street items such as loungewear are also available there.

The firm’s Wouter Mol, who’s head of franchise operations for Benelux and the UK, said the store is aligned with the retailer’s wider store concept, and offers a “pleasant and warm atmosphere to its customers”. He added: “We believe that with our high-quality products and Werner van Keulen's knowledge and retail experience, Esprit Bodywear is a great addition to the Dutch retail landscape”.

The company has a fairly extensive lingerie, nightwear, body and loungewear collection with a focus on comfort fits. “We aim to deliver equally joy, comfort and function for the modern women’s lifestyle — from day to night and all activities,” said its senior VP/head of lifestyle products, Maria Pambori.

News of the bodywear store launch comes as the struggling company also rolls out its upgraded webstore to new markets in Europe following its successful UK debut.
