SportScheck is pleased to have hired Rucker: “Matthias Rucker is our ideal candidate. He will lead the company’s digital transformation, helping to bring [SportScheck] to the next level. We are very pleased to have been able to convince him to join us,” said Wolfram Keil, chairman of the board of directors.

“I would like to express my thanks to Thomas Wanke, who was responsible for the acquisition and full integration of 16 Karstadt Sports stores in record time. He has led our company with great success during the health crisis, and deserves our thanks for this achievement,” added Keil.

Prior to joining BCG, Rucker held various positions at Metro Group and A.T. Kearney. At SportScheck, his main mission will be to accelerate the development of an even more tightly interconnected omni-channel platform for sports enthusiasts. SportScheck is keen to expand its range of sports events, courses, travel and services considerably.

“The importance of omni-channel retail has increased significantly. We will therefore continue to develop in this area. It is especially important for me that we make the most of our branches’ capabilities, and of the opportunities that we have on the web. From our product range to the quality of our advice and service expertise,” said Rucker.

SportScheck's future strategy is also to forge a tighter relationship between its different stores, while developing collaborations such as the one that currently exists with Fahrrad.de at its Munich flagship, or the ‘Tennis Point’ concepts at SportScheck’s Karlsruhe and Dortmund stores. SportScheck also wants to focus on its sustainability drive.
