French luxury label Hermès has recently appointed Greek make-up artist Gregoris Pyrpylis as creative director of Hermès Beauty, the line launched by Hermès in March 2020 as its first collection of make-up products.

Pyrpylis will report to Agnès de Villers, president of Hermès’s Perfumes and Beauty division, and will work under the supervision of Pierre-Alexis Dumas, creative director of Hermès.

“We create the beauty products of Hermès by combining perspectives and techniques issuing from different fields of expertise that integrate and enrich one another, in the service of an artistic vision expressed in products, materials, colours, rituals and sustainability. An expert in the colours, textures and gestures that allow beauty to be expressed and sublimated, Gregoris Pyrpylis will be a driving talent for Hermès Beauty,” said de Villers in a press release.

Pyrpylis began as a make-up artist in Greece in 2006 with M.A.C. In 2015, he worked at the Bioderma laboratory, becoming the world’s first make-up artist to represent a skincare brand. In 2018, he was appointed Shiseido's brand ambassador in Europe.

At Hermès, he will lead the development of the beauty line that was introduced with the Rouge Hermès lipsticks, and further augmented by the Rose Hermès blush line and Les Mains Hermès nail varnish line.
