Ties between Italian and Chinese fashion are being strengthened - especially those between Milan and Shanghai, which have worked together for over 30 years. As part of the Shanghai-Milan Business Cooperation Forum, held on Wednesday, June 10 in Milan, Shangtex, which is active in the Chinese textile industry and a promoter of Shanghai Fashion Week, organized the roundtable discussion "Shanghai Welcomes Italian Fashion".

During the event, an agreement was announced between the Italian National Chamber of Fashion (CNMI) and the Shanghai International Fashion Center (ITFC).

The agreement aims to "promote collaboration and the exchange of data and information between the Milan and Shanghai’s two fashion system," indicated a statement. The idea is primarily to increase cooperation between each city’s respective fashion week by bringing Chinese designers to Milan and vice versa.

The agreement was signed by the new president of the Camera della Moda, Carlo Capasa, and the Shanghai International Fashion Center (ITFC), represented by Tong Jisheng, the head of Shangtex Textile and deputy director of Shanghai fashion week’s organizing committee.

Shanghai Fashion Week, which takes place twice a year, has taken on an increasingly significant stature in recent seasons, featuring a hundred or so shows. The next editions will be held on October 13-20, 2015 and in April 2016.

At the end of the roundtable, Shangtex proposed to hold a meeting between leaders from the major world fashion weeks in Shanghai on July 13 and 14.
