“For five years I’ve travelled all over the world with this exhibition, and it’s fantastic that it’s got as far as Seoul, its first stop in Asia, in the magnificent DPP designed by Zaha Hadid. I couldn’t have dreamed of a more beautiful venue to present my creations in Asia,” says Jean Paul Gaultier, in a news statement.

The exhibit features some 150 haute-couture pieces and ready-to-wear items created between 1976 and 2016, along with sketches, stage costumes, archival footage (films, video clips, fashion shows and spectacles) and photographs.

Since its launch in 2011, it has travelled to Dallas, San Francisco, Madrid, Rotterdam, Stockholm, New York, London, Melbourne, Paris and Munich, where it attracted 200,000 visitors.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier was curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot under the direction of Nathalie Bondil, and designed by Sandra Gagné, head of the MMFA’s Exhibitions Department.

Its been on a five-year international tour.
