Jil Sander is enriching its brand universe with a new line dedicated to nature and outdoor living, designed to be worn far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, on outings to the mountains, the sea or the country. Dubbed Jil Sander+, the new line will launch in Fall/Winter 2019-2020 with an offering targeting both men and women, featuring a number of gender-neutral pieces.

The project is close to the hearts of Lucie and Luke Meier, creative directors at the German brand currently owned by Onward Luxury, who, according to a press release, "both grew up feeling at home in the mountains, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing, living in nature. They both appreciate garments that are equally practical, sensitive, and beautiful, capable of enduring adverse weather conditions yet comfortable."

The majority of the line's debut collection is therefore made up of outerwear pieces, including pea coats, waterproofs, down jackets, capes, parkas, wraps and sturdy rubber boots. Denim also puts in an appearance, along with trousers, skirts, shirts, jumpsuits, pyjamas and slippers, not to mention knitted tunics, a range of other knitwear pieces and outfits in flannel.

Channelling a natural palette, the clean-cut pieces are designed to be comfortable and functional, and are made from high-end materials which are both performance-oriented and, more often than not, "organic or with natural function," such as recycled cashmere, Ventile cotton, jersey and moleskin.

In order to ensure the high-quality of the line's products, the creative duo has decided to enlist the help of special partners for each collection. This season, the couple has teamed up with historic outerwear manufacturer Mackintosh – known around the world for its expertise in rubber – on a range of coats and accessories.
