French leather goods label Longchamp has appointed Sophie Metzker as its global chief marketing and communication officer. Metzker was formerly the director of the Louis Vuitton flagship store on avenue Montaigne in Paris. She succeeds Marie-Laure Dubuisson Minnaert, who is now in charge of the Byredo fragrance brand, owned by the Puig group.

Metzker is a specialist in luxury goods marketing. She started her career in 1996 at global beauty giant L’Oréal, as group product manager for consumer brands like L’Oréal Paris and Garnier. Between 2005 and 2009, she held the post of head of international marketing at Giorgio Armani. In 2009, she switched from the beauty to the spirits industry, working for three years as international vice-president marketing and sales at Rémy Cointreau.

Metzker joined the LVMH group in 2012, as global chief marketing and communication officer of Kenzo Fashion. In 2016, she was appointed director of the Louis Vuitton store at 22 avenue Montaigne in Paris, overseeing a staff of 90 people.

Longchamp is distributed via 1,500 stores worldwide, of which 300 are directly operated. The label does not disclose its revenue results, and generates 24% of its sales in France, 29% in the rest of Europe, 14% in the Americas, and 33% in Asia-Pacific.
