Stuttgart-based department store retailer Breuninger saw sales grow by almost 6% to 756 million euros, or $842 million at current exchange rates, in 2015, said CEO Willy Oergel to German newspaper Handelsblatt on Thursday.

The company expects similar results for this year, confirmed a spokesperson.
Breuninger operates 11 stores in cities such as Dusseldorf, Leipzig and Erfurt, and employs over 5,500 people.
According to reports, the retailer is investing over 1,000 euros in the creation of a new service centre, in an effort to remain competitive versus the likes of Amazon and other internet retailers.
