The adventure will have been short lived as the women’s luxury shoe boutique Martha Louisa, created by the founders of Mytheresa.com Susanne and Christoph Botschen, has announced that it will be shutting down after only six months of operations. The e-commerce store’s sales had failed to live up to the expectations of the German entrepreneurs.

Four years ago, Susanne and Christoph Botschen sold their high-end online fashion store Mytheresa.com to Neiman Marcus for €150 million ($173 million). Following this, in March this year, the couple launched Martha Louisa as a multi-brand e-commerce platform focused on retailing luxury women’s footwear.

This autumn, Susanne and Christoph Botschen decided to terminate their project and have already cancelled orders for the upcoming spring/ summer 2019 season.

“We have embarked upon an exhilarating experience that we will be interrupting at the end of the year,” said Christoph Botschen. As for the reason for the site’s termination, Botschen put it simply: “Sales development has not met our expectations.”
