The American giant is getting ready to launch a new option that will allow its customers to make purchases via a secured selfie.

The principle follows in line with the same digital recognition device used by the iPhone, using a fingerprint to pay. MasterCard is spreading this idea by using facial recognition technology integrated into a large number of apps.

By scanning and analysing the customer's fingerprint at the time of purchase, the technology makes it possible to detect all fraud by verifying the virtual identity of the buyer.

The process will be launched in the United States in the near future. It will function thanks to a simple digital analysis installed on the smartphone. The buyer will just have to take a selfie when paying.

There are no plans as of yet to launch the app in Europe.
