At Milan Design Week, Italian label Missoni has added a new string to its bow by officially launching a new tableware line. The Missoni Tableware collection, following a recently signed licensing deal, is produced and distributed by Arnolfo di Cambio, a crystal, home and table ware manufacturer owned by Compagnia Italiana del Cristallo Srl, established in 1963 in Colle Val d’Elsa, near Siena, Italy.

The new collection is showcased at the Arnolfo di Cambio stand at the Milan Furniture Fair, in pavilion 2 of the Rho Fiera exhibition centre. The line is made using rare materials like fine bone china, blown glass and silver-plated stainless steel, and consists of a variety of tea and coffee sets and mugs, decorative vases and change trays featuring colourful stripes or the Italian label’s iconic multi-coloured zigzag pattern. The elegant table sets, complete with table mats, fruit and bread plates, are all made in fine bone china. The colours range from white with zigzag trimming to sky blue and cobalt blue, and more vivid hues like orange, purple and fuchsia.

The collection also includes sophisticated drinking glasses in blown glass, etched with the label’s signature zigzag pattern. They are made in Italy by master glass-makers, and are available in three hues: transparent, amber and shades of anthracite. The cutlery in silver-plated stainless steel is entirely handmade in Italy, the mat silver finish enhanced by a zigzag motif etched on the handles.

Arnolfo di Cambio (named after the 13th century Florentine sculptor, architect and urban planner), launched a new licensed home fragrance collection at last year's Maison & Objet trade show in Paris, and will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2023. Among the best-sellers for the Tuscan crystal manufacturer led by CEO Gabriele Bagnasacco is the ‘Blade Runner Glass’, designed by Cini Boeri and an iconic item in the world of both cinema and design, having been used by Harrison Ford in a scene from the film ‘Blade Runner’. Arnolfo di Cambio produces luxury tableware under license for Roberto Cavalli, and in the past has collaborated with prestigious designers like Michele De Lucchi, Roger Tallon, Enzo Mari, Marco Zanuso, Toshiyuki Kita, Joe Colombo and Ettore Sottsass.
