Nicole Richie teased her partnership with the makeup brand with an Instagram post on Wednesday with an image of her wearing a denim jacket emblazoned with the word, “Troublemaker.” On Thursday Urban Decay officially announced Richie as its newest ambassador on its Instagram page.

The 35-year-old is the face of the brand’s new Troublemaker mascara, which is available now at retailers such as Sephora and Ulta. Prior to Richie, Urban Decay’s most recent celebrity ambassador was Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose, who starred in campaigns for the brand’s Vice lipsticks.

Richie has branched into various roles in the fashion industry since her time as a reality star in the early 2000s. She has starred in campaigns for the likes of Jimmy Choo and also designed her own clothing and accessories line, House of Harlow 1960.

Many makeup brands have frequently turned to social media influencers to act as ambassadors in recent months, but others have continued to use celebrity spokespeople. Almay recently announced Rashida Jones as its new ambassador, while Rihanna has launched and starred in campaigns for her own makeup brand, Fenty Beauty.

Urban Decay was founded in 1996 and is currently a subsidiary of  L'Oréal. The brand remains headquartered in Newport Beach, California.
