Taking place 4-9 July 2022, with the main event staged across 7-9 July at Manchester Central, NFW will also include breakout events in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.

It’s being curated and produced by the team behind outreach and connectivity platform New Talent Fashion, aiming to “champion northern talent and developing northern industry”.

“Through galvanising the industry and facilitating connections between fashion professionals, NFW will create an immersive environment for art, culture and heritage sectors to collide, bringing together a range of businesses with diversity and inclusivity at the heart of their mission”, the organiser said.

NFW will also be working alongside various local university institutes and regional educational providers to support their growth and development, “facilitating a sustainable future for the British fashion industry".

It said the programme and line-up of catwalks and presentations are designed “to support underrepresented communities within the fashion industry this is an event highlighting the best of the North in all its glory, reinforced by Northern Fashion Week Awards”.

From fast networking sessions to workshops and seminars, interactive stands to brand and retail experiences, “NFW will answer to the needs of the industry and bring fashion back to the North”.

Founder CEO of both NFW and New Talent Fashion, Siobhan Clare O'Donnell said: "I created Northern Fashion Week to allow northern talent the opportunity to showcase themselves, giving them a fair chance within the fashion industry. Representing the North means to not only represent the talent but also the fabulous thriving industry. And so, Northern Fashion Week aims to celebrate both”.

Further event programming and line-up details have yet to be announced.

The North of England is a thriving fashion centre with online names such as Boohoo and Missguided focusing attention on Manchester in particular and illustrating that British fashion is most definitely not all about London. It’s rare that a month goes by without news of new developments from fashion brands based in Northern England, Scotland or Ireland as they expand in the UK and abroad.
