Designer Nellie Partow, member of the American Council of Fashion Designers (CFDA) will be the new brand ambassador for the Première Vision New York trade show's winter session, scheduled January 17-18 at Manhattan's Pier 94.

Partow started her career working with Donna Karan's senior designers, then joined Calvin Klein as women's knitwear and fabric stylist. After a stint at menswear label John Varvatos, she launched her own collection for the autumn/winter 2011/12 season, and her reputation outside  the US began to grow.

She takes over from New York designer David Hart, who was selected last year. French show organiser Première Vision took this decision jointly with the CFDA, with which it is working closely on several initiatives, from the backing offered to young US brands, to guided trade show visits for CFDA members, and supporting the council's Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI) .

Première Vision New York was held for the first time at Pier 94 last January, attracting 4,134 fashion professionals and 297 exhibitors, the latter including also leather and finished goods manufacturers.
