Privé Revaux on Tuesday announced the promotion of company president George Schmidt to the role of general manager, coinciding with the appointment of Maureen Cavanagh to the role of chief operating officer.

The Miami, Florida-based eyewear company said Schmidt, who has served in the role of president since November, has been serving as general manager since January 21. In the new role, Schmidt will provide leadership and strategic direction to the brand and help drive growth as Privé Revaux continues to expand.

“I came to Privé Revaux with the goal of galvanizing growth for an already extraordinary business,” said Schmidt. “The combination of stylish, high-quality eyewear at an accessible price point and engagement of our celebrity co-founders provides an enormous competitive advantage, which I am excited to be a part of.”

A senior executive with expertise in strategic planning, multi-channel marketing, ecommerce and merchandising leadership, Schmidt began his career at L.L.Bean, Inc. as marketing manager of corporate sales. Before joining Privé Revaux, he served as vice president and general manager of Cheryl’s Cookies.

Likewise, Cavanagh joined Privé Revaux in April last year as senior vice president of global sales. In her new role as COO, Cavanagh will continue to accelerate the brand’s global growth trajectory, the company said.

Italian eyewear giant Safilo acquired U.S.-based Privé Revaux in February 2020.

The two appointments are expected to help take the brand further in line with its current strategy, which includes leveraging Safilo’s infrastructure to continue expansion into untapped markets, streamlining back-end operations to deliver exceptional customer service and elevating brand awareness through social media and influencer campaigns, the company added.
