Puma unveils space-age collection with Tyakasha

German sportswear brand Puma has unveiled a new collaborative collection with Shanghai-based brand Tyakasha.

The Puma x Tyakasha capsule includes a sneaker pack featuring special editions of Puma’s RS-X, Basket, Roma and Cali sneaker silhouettes.
According to a press release, the Chinese brand created a fictional universe of space pirates to inspire the design of the shoes, with each sneaker featuring a unique style inspired by the tale's five astronauts -- “captain Aka, chief mate Mr. Green, boatswain Handsome Boy, chief cook Oring and able seaman Rabbit-Dragon” -- who travel onboard a space pirate boat named Tyakasha.
In addition to the collection’s footwear, the collaboration also features accessories like a mini backpack, sacoche, body bag, cap and beanie. Items from both the collection’s footwear and accessories feature space-themed graphics of interplanetary monsters, pirates and submarines, the brand said, as well as classic Puma logos.
The Puma x Tyakasha collection will launch on puma.com, in Puma stores and at select retailers on September 14.
The collection serves to boost Puma’s involvement in the Chinese market, just as the German brand continues to make major progress within its North American market. Puma opened its first North American flagship store in New York City last week.
