So luxury beauty brand Rituals Cosmetics — which has been expanding fast across the UK in recent periods — has announced it is now a ‘Certified B Corporation’. This shows it is using the power of business to “build a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy” while “meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance”.

It said the certification “marks a new stage in our transformation towards a more purpose-driven business model. It allows us to set more ambitious sustainability goals, year after year”.

Rituals said it joins over 4,000 B Corps in 153 industries and 77 countries.

Raymond Cloosterman, owner and founder of the well-being brand, said: “As a brand that truly fosters a sustainable future… Rituals we strive to keep doing more and going further for people and planet, so we are truly honoured to join a global movement of responsible organisations that want to accelerate progress on the shared challenges we face.”

He added: “By achieving the B Corp certification, Rituals is one of the frontrunners in the beauty and wellness industries to get successfully assessed through this rigorous standard which has become a leading sustainability certification worldwide.”

Rituals also said its sustainability plans include: by 2023, all formulas are to be made of at least 90% natural origin ingredients;  by 2025, all packaging will be refillable, recyclable and/or made from recycled material; by 2025, the average product assessment score on the Conscious tool, its product evaluation tool, will have increased from 63+ to 80+; and by 2025, all products will be refillable, recyclable and/or made of recycled materials.
