Skechers USA, Inc. has broken ground on an expansion of its corporate headquarters, growing to several adjacent buildings in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, California, and has also expanded the company’s space in the South Bay to just over 330,000 square feet.

The development at the company's HQ will include a new design center spanning over 100,000-square-feet, as well as new executive offices on Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach, while the South Bay expansion will more than double the company's office, design and showroom space in the region from its original size. In addition, the company will expand its existing building on South Sepulveda Boulevard and add a new office across the street in Manhattan Beach.

According to a press release, all buildings "are being developed with sustainability in mind to achieve LEED Gold certification upon completion," with features such as "solar panels, daylight harvesting and motion-controlled lighting, high-performance glass, R30 insulation, and Forest Stewardship-certified wood." Noting California's long-term history of drought issues, the new construction will also utilize drought-tolerant bio-filtration planters with low-water-use plumbing and irrigation.

The company said it will prioritize waste reduction and recycling at all new and updated facilities, prioritizing features like recycling services and eco-friendly kitchen materials.

“It’s been a challenge to meet the needs of our growing business with our existing space,” said David Weinberg, chief operating officer at Skechers. “This investment in our corporate headquarters allows us to better plan for the future and increase efficiencies. It will allow us to consolidate our teams, give us room to grow, and enhance our work, design, meeting and showroom space.”
