Sorel increasing its presence for the fall

Increasing its presence for the fall is the current goal for Sorel, the winter boot brand from the Columbia group. Known for its fur-lined boots, notably the Caribou, Sorel is expanding its collections by incorporating fall materials, such as canvas and nubuck. The line will particularly focus on women's shoes, with women spending more money on footwear per year than men.

This (re)positioning seems to be paying off since even though in 2012 Sorel suffered a drop due to the financial crisis, in 2014 the brand recorded sales that were up 29% at 136 million dollars, notably carried by a drop in prices that was put in place a few seasons earlier. In addition, the brand transformed its New York store, initially just meant to be a temporary, into a permanent location.

Another major project it has in store is the launch of its very first textile collection.
