In order to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, the German group Symrise, specialised in aromas and fragrances, has recently opened a site in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The site is called Symrise Persian and consists of commercial offices, allowing the group to develop products that are well-suited to the requirements of Persian Gulf customers.

"By having our own site in the region, we are showing our desire to meet the requirements of our Iranian customers, and those of a highly appealing market. Furthermore, this puts us one step ahead of several international groups," said Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, Symrise AG's CEO, explaining how for 40 years his group has kept close links with Iran through independent traders, and this despite the sanctions that have been imposed.

According to Symrise, Iran's geographical position, lying as it does between Europe, Russia and the Persian Gulf, makes the country a major platform and opens up several exchange possibilities, notably with Asia.
