As part of the collaboration set to launch in 2022, Ossendrijver will design a series of capsule collections for both men and women rooted in his innovative approach to materials and his activewear meets tailoring aesthetic, with collections inspired by urban lifestyle codes.

Ossendrijver worked at Lanvin for 14 years and left in 2018 amid leadership changes. Prior to joining Lanvin, he assisted Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme.

“I am thrilled to be collaborating with Theory, an iconic American brand whose mission presents a fresh creative opportunity at a time of incredible change,” said Ossendrijver in a statement.

“This is the start of a new and exciting chapter in the evolution of Theory,” added Kazumi Yanai, chairman of Theory and Fast Retailing USA, in a statement. “We are just beginning a friendship with Lucas, one that I trust will strengthen our commitment to deliver exceptional design and value to our customers.”

The New York-based fashion label is owned by Japan’s Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. The parent company has ensured that Theory remains a relevant brand in the contemporary fashion landscape, by partnering with sister brands.

This month, Uniqlo and Theory are taking up residence at the Superdry Regent Street flagship. It will be the first time the two apparel brands occupy retail space in the same location in either the UK or Europe. The brands have equally collaborated on collections, most recently.

Uniqlo is the largest of eight brands in the Fast Retailing Group, which also includes GU, Helmut Lang, PLST (Plus T), Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse Tam.Tam and J Brand
