The German designer will be converting his Bleecker Street store in Manhattan from a unisex shop to his namesake label’s first men’s only shop. Baier’s eponymous label is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and recently re-launched its e-commerce site.

Tomas Maier’s New York City-based namesake brand currently has five stores across the United States, including two in Florida, which sell the label’s casual, beach-inspired clothing and accessories for men and women. Maier says converting the Greenwich Village shop into a men’s only store will give a chance for men’s sales to catch up to women’s.

The new men’s store won’t go through a major redesign, but will include more decor to appeal to male customers. If the change proves successful, Maier says the company could open more men’s only stores in new locations such as Tokyo.

Maier launched his brand in 1997 with a line of swimwear and cashmere sweaters. Since 2001, he has also designed for Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tomas Maier brand, the company partnered with Farfetch to re-launch its online shop. The new e-commerce platform will offer worldwide shipping and same-day shipping to customers in New York and Florida.
