Vienna preparing for its Fashion Week

From the 24th to the 27th of September, the Vienna Fashion Week will be held in the MuseumsQuartier, an unmissable hotspot in the Austrian capital which is set to become a fashion centre welcoming press and buyers.

“It is evident that Paris, Milan and London are our models, even if we are aware that we can’t measure ourselves against them,” explained Elvyra Geyer, one of the organizers. Without wanting to compete with the major Fashion Weeks, Vienna is hoping to internationalise its standing and break out of a purely Viennoise circle.

Creative Headz, the new leaders of the events, will be hosting around sixty designers. These include Austrians such as Kor, Superated and Michael Mayer but also those from further afield such as Bulgaria, Germany with Marcel Ostertag and England. The event will see catwalk shows, trade stands and busy nights in the Austrian city.

The Fashion Week will be held in the MuseumsQuartier, one of the ten biggest cultural centres in the world, encompassing more than 60,000 m² with 40 institutions, including museums, cinemas, theatres, shops, cafes and restaurants.
