With travel back on the agenda, Tusting launches India Hicks collab

We’re seeing a lot of high-end collaborations at present focused on the reviving travel segment and British leathergoods business Tusting has launched a range of bags in a link-up with designer and writer India Hicks.

The collection comprises three styles from mini sized up to extra large with Sail being an oversized carryall, Soleil an everyday tote and Snatch a top handled small bag. The company said the latter is "infused with the romance of train or steamer travel”.

And with convenience to the fore, the company has designed them so that each can nest into the next for easy transportation as the travel sector reopens following periods of lockdown around the world.

They come in leather and thick cotton drill with a distinct orange-red liming inspired by a flame tree in full bloom from Hicks’ Bahamian garden. The washable drill comes from Ireland where she used to spend her summers.

The linings are also coated to be water-resistant (so they’re able to deal with almost anything from bunches of flowers to a puppy or a damp towel) and a discreet hand-stitched cross is the mark of the collaboration. It’s the only branding visible from the outside.

Each of the bags is hand-made in the firm’s UK workshop and numbered in Hicks’ handwriting. Personal initials or messages can also be embossed onto the bags.
